November 14, 2007 – Meeting Minutes
1. Call meeting to order at 7:05 by Betsy Glasser / Introductions of Board Members and attendees
2. September 19th’s meeting minutes distributed and accepted by Jackie Aldershoff / Kim Corbitt
3. Treasurer’s Report: – $19,871.93 grand total MS/HS combined
Total disbursements- $2,565.65 / Total deposits $3,992.65
4. Sunshine / Correspondence: Sympathy cards sent to Denise Swezey, David Lendrum, Gordon Family w/donation. Thank you’s to volunteers from picture day.
5. Standing Committees:
Hospitality – No report
Membership – Membership forms sent home w/progress reports;
Fundraising – Chairperson still needed; Looking to form committee for new ideas for next year
Teen Town – November 30th cancelled due to basketball; will reschedule for Dec -Deb to check w/History Club; Would like to donate concession profits to needy families for the holidays / Ideas for teen town include dance contest/half court shots, possible Karaoke
6. Old Business:
Open Houses – 6th grade was well liked / HS seemed light- there were Varsity/JV football games; Otherwise all went well.
HS Picture Days 10/4 & 10/5 – Went well, however there was some trouble finding additional volunteers for 10/4; 2 people needed, however there was only 1 person ½ the day
Rock n Bowl 10/7 – Went well / Need to advertise more with additional details – cost, time, date. 105 bowlers attended
HS Dance 10/19 – Cancelled ; HS Choir hosted a Haunted House
MS vs HS Faculty Basketball Game 11/2 – Participation from both schools were great; the cheerleaders especially! Positive feedback received from students and faculty. Staff suggested possible Softball Game in the spring.
7. New Business:
Academic Letter Ceremony 11/28 – Changed from 11/14; PTSO to provide refreshments- Donna to call bakers, Ceremony approx 1 hr for 10th graders w/90 or above for 3 quarters
Holiday Gift Wrapping – Need volunteers; Located in food court @ Rotterdam Square Mall on 12/14, 12/15, 12/16. Sign up sheets w/2 hour shifts for volunteers. Advertise through poster, flyers, phone home. Terri has rolls of wrapping paper. Mary Gina to contact National Honors Advisors for kids to volunteer.
After Glows and 8th Grade Dance – 1st afterglow meeting set for Monday- Dec 3, 7:00pm at HS library. Afterglow are safe place for kids to go after proms/balls. Meeting in January for 8th grade dance committee. Co-Chairs & Student Council to meet prior to organizing
8. Principal’s Comments:
Mrs. Male – Faculty BB game was a great time by all. Possible softball or soccer game in the spring. Stress that 8th grade co-chairs meet with Student Council/8th grade Advisor to meet to discuss budget for dance. Student Council purchasing blankets & organizing care packages for troops overseas. Coordinating with woman who organized the military football game activities. Terri to get back to Deb with name of person who will bring items straight to the Albany dock to save on shipping expenses. Last Teen Town, $1.00 was taken off admission if canned good brought in or posters made.

9. Privilege of the Floor:
Student Council – Mrs. Harrison 8th advisor; Student votes on Monday for 8th grade Officers, and then the Reps & Alternates selected in Advisory. Meetings usually begin in December.
Talent Show @ MS in January – take off of Lip Sync at the Elementary level. No planning has been taken place yet.
8th grade dance committee – all checks through PTSO/accountability for $/budget should be clearer and explained to new chairpeople; Possibly implement a prior chairperson to work with new ones for explanation of funds-how generated/used and to guide them through the process.
